This is the reason I have reservations about technology.

The Wonderful Thing About Blogfolios…or Electronic Portfolios

So I think I’ve done what I wanted with my electronic portfolio. It includes a education or teaching philosophy, a lesson plan from a class assignment I had done last semester, and a list of my experience working with kids. I was considering adding my resume, but I’m not sure about posting that online yet. I think this blogfolio will probably change a lot in the next couple years as I continue in my education degree. I plan to keep updating often as I gain more experience with lesson planing and teaching. Especially next semester when I begin my pre-internship experience and have to do some actual teaching in a classroom.

The Wonderful Thing About My Grandma

Here it is, my final project!

[blip.tv ?posts_id=3514082&dest=-1]

I used iMovie to edit the video and the trial version of ecamm to record my Skype call with my grandmother.  I love hearing my grandparent’s stories about their life and thought that my grandmother’s experiences as a teacher would be very meaningful to my learning as a future teacher.  She is very wise and I love hearing her perspectives.

The Wonderful Thing About Math

Came across this prezi the other day about how teachers teach math in the classroom.  I remember how I was taught math.  At the start of the year we opened our books to chapter one and tried our hardest to get to the last chapter by June.  Math was very linear.  This prezi talks about why math should not be taught this way.  Very interesting.  I would take time to check it out.

The Wonderful Thing About Cell Phones

Yesterday I was texting for my husband who was driving.  Since drivers can no longer use their cell phones while driving (which I love),  I’ve been getting more practice lately with my husband’s phone and have found that texting is getting easier for me when before I would take five minutes to send out a three word text.  I believe I sent two texts in the course of two minutes.  Pretty good for me. I don’ t think I want a cell phone of my own yet however, but lately I have felt that I am being left behind.  Everywhere I look I’m seeing cell phones and this morning I read this blog by the innovative educator.  It’s about actually using cellphones in class for learning and there are even some lessons  provided.   It kinda blew me away.  I would think that phones would be distracting rather than a good tool for learning.  Its something to think about anyways.

The Wonderful Thing About Storyline Online

I found this amazing website where actors read stories and the pictures are animated for you to watch while they read.  It is fantastic.  I watched James Earl Jones read To Be A Drum.  It took me down memory lane to when he used to do the show Long Ago and Far Away on PBS which was hosted by James Earl Jones.  Anyways, the site also provides additional activities to do after the reading  as well as an activity guide that you can download for each story.  I highly recommend it.
